SCLEROTHERAPY TREATMENTS IN DENVER

Say Goodbye to Spider Veins

Spider veins are caused from “leaks” between the deep and superficial veins of the legs, which can develop from old injuries or from bad valves that allow the high pressure from the deep veins to reach the skin. This condition is most common on the lateral and inner thighs, occurring in both men and women.

Why consider Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is often done for cosmetic purposes — to improve the appearance of varicose and spider veins — but other reasons for a sclerotherapy treatment can include the reduction of the following symptoms:

  • Aching
  • Swelling
  • Burning
  • Night Cramps

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a minimally-invasive procedure that treats varicose veins and spider veins by injecting them with a solution called a sclerosant. The solution is injected directly into the veins, causing them to scar and forcing the blood within to reroute through healthier veins. The collapsed veins are dissolved and absorbed into local tissue. From here, the veins eventually fade.

Varicose veins can cause itching, pain, cramping, and discoloration, while spider veins create an unwanted appearance, usually on the legs and the feet. Depending on the size of the damaged veins, sclerotherapy can be used to treat spider veins and varicose veins in the following areas:

  • Thighs
  • Calves
  • Ankles
  • Feet
  • Face
  • Anus

You can usually expect to see results in three to six weeks, but larger veins may require longer until you see results. Veins that do respond to the treatment usually never come back, but new veins may appear. Your doctor will schedule a follow-up treatment to ensure that the procedure was a success and to determine if further treatments are needed. The overall success rate is high making it a worthwhile investment!
